Shannon Hibernians AFC Shannon
Sun 6 Mar 2011 - A Team draw while Under 11's record emphatic win < back
League Division 1A
Shannon Hibernians 1 - 1 Prospect

Hibs played host to Prospect in the league in great conditions in Riverside Park. Hibs started the game well and on ten minutes a shot from Gary Leahy forced a good save from the Prospect keeper. Two minutes later Hibs were unlucky not to take the lead when Rob Wall had a header saved off the line. Prospect came into the game and on quarter of an hour Darren Whelan in the Hibs goal made a fine save, Prospect then went close with a shot that went just wide of the post five minutes later. On twenty-five minutes Prospect took the lead after a good cross into the box and the ball was headed into the back of the net. Hibs reacted well with Jamie Egan and Declan McDonald both going close in the last ten minutes of the half.

Hibs got off to the perfect start to the second half when Prospect scored an own goal to level the game. With twenty minutes gone in the second half Hibs should have taken the lead when Juilo Perez should have scored with a header. With ten minutes to go Graham Carey had a free header but failed to convert the chance, which was Hibs last real chance of the game. Hibs controlled the majority of the possession in the second half but failed to convert their chances and would have to be happy with a point.

Hibs Team: Darren Whelan, BJ Cantillon, Thomas McDade, Pa Devanney, Gren Zausalov, Julio Perez, Rob Wall, Jamie Egan, Gary Leahy, Declan McDonald, Dale Nolan

Under 11s Division 1
Shannon Hibs 10 - 0 Newport

This game was played in perfect condition with Hibs having a good start and a few early shots to test the Newport keeper. Hibs got there first after 10 minutes with Evan O'Gorman driving home from the edge of the box. Hibs second was scored by Damian Halpin with a tap in after Danny Harty had a fine shot stopped by the keeper. Hibs third was scored by Halpin who beat the advancing keeper to the bottom corner from outside the box. Hibs fourth came from O'Gorman again with a long shot from 30 yards which seemed too hot for the keeper to handle just before the break. Hibs started the second half strongly with Conor Ferns getting on the end of a fine cross from Lee Devitt to shoot across the keeper in to the far corner for Hibs fifth. Ferns again was there to slot home Hibs sixth after a bit of pin ball in the Newport box. Hibs seventh was scored by man of match Conor Ferns who picked the ball out of the sky and turned to put the ball into the back of the net with the help of a deflection. Ferns again scored Hibs eight and his fourth of the game. Hibs ninth came from O'Gorman who also got his hat-trick with a fine low drive into the bottom coner. Hibs tenth came from Luke O'Neill driving in to the back post & slotting home from the edge of the six yard box. This game was no easy battle for Hibs with Newport playing the game with ten men. Hibs have now scored 19 goals in there last two games.
