Mon 14 Sep 2009 - Weekend Results - Under 14s Record Emphatic Win < back

League Div 1B
Murroe 2 - 4 Shannon Hibs

Hibs played very well in the first half against Murroe going in at half time 3 nil up with Rob Wall, Gary Higgins and Shane O’Connor all getting on the score sheet. In the second half a bad mistake at the back let Murroe get back into the game when a ball wasn’t cleared properly and left the Murroe striker with a simple finish. Murroe then got a second goal shortly after to reduce the deficit to one. Hibs looked under pressure but Gary Higgins scored a great goal to make sure of the points after beating three defenders, his shot was deflected into the back of the net. Best on the day for Hibs was Andy Fitzgerald.

League Div 1B
Hospital 3 -1 Shannon Hibs

This was a very disappointed result for Hibs, who despite missing a number of players should have done better on the day. After a fairly scrappy opening half, the sides went in level at half time, with Hibs guilty of missing a number of goal scoring chances. Fifteen minutes into the second half Hospital scored two goals in quick succession and then got a third shortly after this to take command of the game. With twenty minutes to go, substitute Ken Buckley cut in from the left and curled a great shot into the top corner to give Hibs some hope. Hospitial were then reduced to ten men but despite all their pressure Hibs could not find an opening to bring themselves back into the match.

League Div 3B
Shelbourne B 1 - 4 Shannon Hibs B

The B team had a very good away win against Shelbourne despite not getting off to a good start in the match. With fifteen minutes gone in the game Hibs found themselves 1 down but managed to equalize ten minutes later when Willie O’Donoghue crossed in from a corner with Bobby O’Connell connecting to head it in. Hibs then took the lead before half time with Sean Lindsay striking a great shot from 25 yards out into the bottom corner. Hibs continued to improve in the second half and then got their third after a scramble in the Shels box the ball fell to Seanie Cahill who struck a shot past into the back of the net from close range. Sean Lindsay then made sure of the points for Hibs after a flick from Gavin Lundy found Lindsay at the edge of the box who struck a well taken shot past the shels keeper.
