Sat 1 Mar 2008 - Park Unveil New Dressing Rooms < back

One week after having CEO of the FAI John Delaney down in Shannon to present their Schoolboy Awards, Park AFC held the official opening of their new dressing rooms and on the same day also celebrated the 35th anniversary of the club.

Despite the looming bad weather on the day, a great crowd turned out for the opening of the dressing rooms with Clare TD Timmy Dooley doing the honours of officiating at the opening. Also present were three of the founding members of the club, Brian 'Tosh' Collins, Martin McGuane and Ted Germaine who were very impressed at the current setup of the club they help to found.

Speaking on the day, Tim Dooley spoke of the hard work and dedication required to bring such a large a project to fruitition with Canon O'Donoghue paying tribute to the service that Park provideto the young people in the Shannon area.

Park would like to thank all those who helped out and contributed to the opening of the new dressing rooms. In particular Karen Dunne and Damien Nolan who put a great deal of work throughout the whole project from the preparation of the National Lottery grant application to getting the dressings rooms built to a very high standard.

Also on the day Joe O'Donnell was made an honorary life member of the club. Speaking at the opening Chairman of Park AFC, Peter Webb paid tribute to the effort that Joe put in at the initial opening of the grounds at Riverside Park, and without his hard work and dedication Park would not have the grounds that are present today.

That evening Park held their 35 Anniversary celebrations in the Shannon Knights. Gareth Quirke was named Player of the Season for 2006/2007 and Damien Nolan was named Club Person of the Year for the huge amount of work that he has done in getting the new dressing rooms completed.

Park would like to thank all those who gave their time throughout the whole project and also to all those who attended the official opening on the day.
